Pandemics and epidemics have caused suffering, death, economic hardship, and social inequalities, disproportionately impacting marginalized communities. These crises originate from human population growth and demand for essentials, and are exacerbated by industrialization, travel, and resource use, straining the ecosystem.
Visionary scientists introduced the One Health approach, emphasizing the interconnectedness of human, animal, and wildlife health. Bangladesh has adopted this approach, establishing a National One Health Strategy and Action Plan. Globally, the One Health concept influences political forums like the G-20. International One Health Day, observed annually, stresses collective action to balance human, animal, and ecosystem health. In 2023, the theme, "Connecting Air, Land, and Water," underscores the importance of collaborative efforts to address complex global challenges.
One Health Bangladesh hosted two events on November 5, 2023. 1) World One Health Day Extempore Speech Competition for post graduate students from different disciplines. See recording -
