This annual One Health Conference is in its eighth year, having been inaugurated in 2018 as a collaboration between the Caribbean College of Family Physicians Jamaica Chapter and the Jamaica Veterinary Medical Association. Our first 2 events were "in-person" but since the Covid-19 pandemic has been virtual, and is now held in January during One Health Awareness Month.
Our Conference promotes One Health buy-in from all sectors, educating on topics that are cross-cutting or can take particpants outside of their usual niches to increase appreciation for other disciplines, encouraging collaboration.
Since its inception in 2018, this collaboration has become a vital platform for interdisciplinary dialogue. This year the conference featured vector-borne diseases, nutrition, comparative & translational medicine, environmental impacts of human activities and antimicrobial resistance. With over 300 participants each day, the conference highlighted the power of cross disciplinary collaboration in addressing these One Health/Planetary Health challenges. See the Conference Report.
