The One Health Challenge Competition Overview:
Introduction: The One Health International Association of Nanjing Agriculture University (OHIA of NJAU) was founded in 2014 by a group of undergraduates who went to the University of California, Davis for a short visit. Our association is now made up of students from different grades and a variety of majors including veterinary medicine, environmental science, business, etc. We focus on promoting interdisciplinary efforts, as well as popularizing One Health concept through both offline promotion and online publicity with a goal of making a difference for a better world. What’s more, we have been formally accepted as a member of International Student One Health Alliance (ISOHA) and we are the only student association from China. In order to better promote the One Health concept among the Asia college students and let people truly practice the One Health concept in their daily life, we launched One Health Competition for celebrating the 2020 One Health Day this year and we have reached our goal to be influential and achieved great success.
The One Health Challenge is a competition launched by One Health International Association of Nanjing Agricultural University (OHIA of NJAU), and Nanjing Agricultural University, Office of International Relations, which requires the participants to work in groups to put forward some feasible One Health plans to solve the daily problems by interdisciplinary teamwork, inspiring people to realize how to practice the One Health concept into their daily lives. This event is also highly supported by the University of California, Davis, Western Institute for Food Safety and Security.
During this 8-week event, there will be two reports which is vital for judging each team’s final scores. The first one will be set on the end of the fourth week and the other one is on the final week. Besides, the offline promotion of each team are necessities, which have made us reached thousands of people in total during the One Health Challenge in 2020.
