Women for One Health (WfOH): New Secretariat Introduction - Kenya

The Women for One Health (WfOH) Network is an interconnected community of One Health (OH) professionals advancing the participation of women and under-served groups in One Health research, policy, and practice to enhance gender equity, diversity, and inclusivity. The idea of the network was sparked by the initiative of a few female One Health advocates who met in November 2022 at the World One Health Congress in Singapore and discussed the importance of gender-balanced representation in One Health events.

Women for One Health (WfOH) Poster Presentation at the AFROHUN conference

The Africa One Health University Network (AFROHUN) held its 4th International One Health Conference at the Emara Ole Sereni Convention Centre in Nairobi, Kenya, from April 24th to 26th, 2024. The conference, theme was “The Role of Regional One Health University Networks in Advancing Global Health Security” and gathered over 300 global One Health practitioners, scientists, students, and young professionals. It focused on addressing One Health challenges related to climate change and antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

Meru County One Health Harambee

Meru County government is celebrating One Health Week by encouraging community clean-ups and by spreading information about One Health through radio, television and public address systems. Public awareness messages have been prepared on a variety of topics including key priority zoonotic diseases affecting Meru County, such as anthrax, brucellosis, and rabies. Messages on the importance of good hygiene and nutrition, and messages on soil and environmental health are also bein shared.
