The World One Health Day commemoration will begin from 27-31October with a week of community clean-up activities focusing on cleaning the physical environment around health facilities to remove waste and standing water where disease vectors could breed. Community Health Promoters and members of the public participated in the cleanups. A clean-up of Kianjai Market in Tigania East sub-county will also be organized. Radio and television interviews about One Health will be aired on multiple channels, with representatives from the Meru County Government.

Kenya will host the Kenya One Health Week from November 2nd to 8th, 2025, celebrating the interconnected health of people, animals, and the environment under the theme “By protecting one, we help protect all.”

The week will feature a series of activities including media engagements, student forums, a pre-conference webinar, and a Farmers’ Field Day and Medical Camp. The highlight of the week will be the Kenya One Health Conference, held on November 6th–7th, 2025, at Ole Sereni Hotel, Nairobi, in a hybrid format (in-person and virtual).

Rwanda has demonstrated exceptional leadership in adopting and operationalizing the One Health approach to address complex health challenges. Following the devastating 1994 genocide, Rwanda embarked on an ambitious healthcare transformation that has yielded remarkable results: doubling life expectancy, achieving universal health coverage with 90% of the population enrolled in community-based health insurance, and becoming one of only two sub-Saharan African countries to meet all Millennium Development Goals for health.
